Golden Gate Canyon with Chris and Dani

I went hiking with my buds Chris and Dani from school. . .we headed up to Golden Gate Canyon, which is not really a canyon, nor golden, nor a gate. . . Posted by Picasa

Memorial Day 2006

Missy and I headed out for a fun weekend of camping, hiking and rafting for Memorial Day. . .Saturday at Mount of the Holy Cross. . .Sunday in Glenwood Canyon and Grizzly Creek, and Monday rafting down the Colorado River with a dip in Glenwood Hot Springs at the end. Here's Missy setting up camp. Posted by Picasa

On Saturday we headed out on what would be one of the more difficult hikes I've ever done. .and definitely the most difficult one that Missy's done. . .our destination was a lake high up on Mt. of the Holy Cross. Soon after heading out we hit snow and we lost the trail. My GPS led the way up. . .although we were rarely sure where the trail exactly was. We had to cross the streem a few times to find more stable snow, as almost every other footstep put our hiking boots 3' deep in the snow! Here's Missy crossing the stream. . . Posted by Picasa

Missy feeding the birds from her bum at our lunch stop. The hightlight of this lunch was when Missy whispered loudly, "JERAMY! LOOK! WOLF!!!!" Right below us, in the clearing you can see below the rock, was what we later decided was a coyote. .he was not more that 15' from us. .just standing there. . .and 10 seconds later he walked off into the woods before I could get my camera out. The reason that we are fairly certain it wasn't a wolf is because wolves are believed to be extinct in Colorado. HOWEVER. .cool fact. . .2 of the wolves that were reintroduced into Yellowstone in the 90's were spotted near Steamboat Springs in NW Colorado last month! cool stuff. Posted by Picasa
An un-named waterfall we came across. . .My GPS led us up the cliff to the right of the waterfall. . .Missy was a great sport about it. . .we had to hand of backpacks at times when it got a little treacherous. Posted by Picasa
