Durango with Missy - Feb. 10-12, 2006

Missy and I headed down to Durango this weekend. It was her first time there. . .she fell in love with it as quickly as I did! We rode the train on Saturday (of course!) and went for a drive through Silverton and Ouray on Sunday. This is Missy on the high line. . .

I rode in the Engine for a few miles. . .the fireman shovels about 5-6 shovels-full of coal into the boiler ever 3 mins. or so. . .cool stuff. .

The train stops at the Cascade Wye for about 45 minutes so Rich took us on a hike up the tracks.

On Sunday we drove to Silverton and Ouray. This pic was taken along the highway in Uncompahgre Gorge

This is the train station in Silverton that is used in the summer. Last March when I was here, the snow reached up to the roof overhang!

Snowshoeing

Feb. 5, 2006. . .Went snowshoeing with some friends today. . .We started out at a parking area west of Ward, hiked past Red Rock Lake, to Brainard Lake and finally Long Lake.
